Ginny Lagos makes one off stylized sculptures using a variety of clay bodies, from a shared ceramics studio in Sydney Australia.  Her animal sculptures are mostly domestic; cats birds and dogs hence the name and are either left unglazed or with a coat of paint and or wax.

A love of folk and outsider art such as the work of Bill Traylor and Wilhelm Shimmel along with an interest in ancient architecture and forms, medieval animal depictions and carving inform her work.

She is currently using clay for her animals, but also works in direct plaster, wax, fabric and cardboard.

"By choosing animals as my subjects the works are often light-hearted, but I also want to show their beautiful forms and to let the materials shine through"
